CATS legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 23, 2026
This policy explains how Control and Telemetry Systems GmbH (“CTS”), Loretorain 3, 6300 Zug, Switzerland, processes personal data across the CATS website, contact form, online shop, and CATS Flights.
Website and contact
When you visit the CATS website, technical information needed to deliver and protect the site may be processed, including your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, cookies, and related session information.
Contact form submissions contain the name, email address, organization, subject, and message you provide. They are delivered to the CATS email inbox and used to read, answer, and follow up on your request. Information you send through email or another communication channel is processed for the same purpose.
Shop and orders
The CATS shop is hosted by Wix. When you browse the shop, create a customer account, add products to a cart, or place an order, CTS and its providers may process your name, contact details, billing and delivery addresses, order details, account information, customer messages, and technical session information.
Payment information is processed by the payment method and payment provider shown at checkout. CTS receives the payment and transaction information needed to confirm and support the order, but does not receive the complete card credentials handled by the payment provider. Shipping providers receive the name, address, contact details, and order information required to deliver the purchase.
Shop and order data is used to complete purchases, take payment, deliver products, issue invoices, provide customer support, handle returns and warranty claims, prevent fraud, and comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations. Promotional messages are sent only where permitted, and you can unsubscribe using the link in those messages.
CATS Flights
Opening and analyzing a local .cfl file happens in your browser. The file is not sent to CTS unless you explicitly choose Save flight or create an unlisted share.
Accounts and profiles
When you create an account, CTS stores the name, email address, profile image, and verification information supplied through Google or email-link sign-in. CTS also stores the profile information and unit preference you choose, essential session records, saved flight metadata and original logs, processed photos, video links, sharing records, flight groups, group membership applications and decisions, and account or content changes needed to operate the service.
Your email address is not displayed on your public profile. Google authentication requests basic identity, email, and profile-image access. When a new account is created, CATS Flights emails CTS a notification containing the account name, email address, and signup time. Returning sign-ins do not generate this notification.
Saved and shared flights
Saved flights are private by default. Publishing makes the flight metadata, photos, profile attribution, and downloadable original log public. Unlisted links can be opened and downloaded by anyone who has the complete link. Their selected duration is 1, 3, 7, 30, or 90 days. Guest flight data is deleted when its link expires. Expiring links for account-owned flights do not delete the underlying saved flight.
Uploaded photos are converted in your browser to WebP, reduced to a maximum dimension and size, and stripped of source metadata such as EXIF before upload. Original source photos are not retained.
Flight groups
Flight groups are public collections created by signed-in users. A group's name, description, creator, and approved published flights can be viewed by anyone. Applications and rejected memberships are visible only to the applicant, group owner, and authorized CTS administrators. An approved membership is retained if its flight is made private, but it is hidden from the public group page and count until the flight is published again.
CATS Flights may email the group owner when a new application is submitted and email the applicant when the application is approved or rejected. Group owners and authorized CTS administrators may moderate applications and memberships. Administrative group changes are audited.
Flight pages may include YouTube videos. When a YouTube video approaches the visible part of the page, your browser connects to YouTube to load it. YouTube receives normal connection information, such as your IP address and browser details, may receive referrer information according to your browser settings, and may use cookies under its own privacy policy. Other media remains an external link and is not loaded by CATS Flights.
Anonymous traffic measurement
CTS counts successful views of public pages using daily aggregates. These aggregates contain only the page category, country code supplied by Cloudflare, device category, and either Direct, Internal, or an external referrer hostname. CTS does not use an analytics cookie or store IP addresses, user identifiers, full referrer URLs, query strings, or complete user-agent strings for this measurement. Private, account, administrator, and unlisted-share pages are excluded.
Cookies and browser storage
CATS Flights uses essential authentication cookies for signed-in sessions. Browser storage is used for device preferences, resuming an explicitly requested save, and retaining the management secret for a guest share created on that device. CATS Flights does not use advertising cookies.
Service providers and access
Wix hosts the online shop and its customer and order functions. Cloudflare hosts the main website, application data, file storage, security checks, and site delivery. Cloudflare Turnstile is used for anti-bot protection. Google processes Google sign-in and supplies the privacy-enhanced YouTube player for supported flight media. Namecheap Private Email delivers contact messages, sign-in links, account notifications, and flight-group application notifications through CATS mailboxes.
OpenFreeMap supplies map tiles. Nominatim receives a rounded launch coordinate for place-name lookup. For supported saved flights, Open-Meteo receives the launch coordinate and flight hour so CATS Flights can retrieve historical model weather. Open-Meteo does not receive the flight log, account identity, rocket name, or flight title.
Providers process data only as needed to supply their services or meet their own legal obligations. Depending on the provider, data may be processed outside Switzerland. Their own privacy notices provide more information about their processing locations and safeguards. Authorized CTS administrators may access customer records and may open or download private flight files when needed to operate or support the service. Administrative access to private flight files, edits, and deletions is audited.
Retention and deletion
CTS keeps personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy and to meet contractual, accounting, tax, security, and legal obligations. Contact messages are kept while the request is handled and for any reasonable follow-up period. Shop and order records are kept for the periods required by applicable law.
In CATS Flights, abandoned staged uploads expire after 24 hours. Guest shares and their uploaded flight data expire after the selected 1, 3, 7, 30, or 90 days. Anonymous daily traffic aggregates are retained indefinitely because they contain no visitor identifiers. You can delete individual flights or your entire account. Account deletion removes your profile, sessions, saved flights, photos, share links, groups you created, and related group applications and memberships, subject to any legal retention obligation.
Your choices and questions
You may ask CTS for information about your personal data and request correction or deletion where applicable. You may also object to or request limits on certain processing where provided by law. Identity verification may be required before a request is completed.
CTS may update this policy when its services or legal obligations change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
